Guided walking tours in the Town of Summerville include a stroll past gracious old home of the antebellum and Victorian eras. You will hear stories of the rice planters and other people who once lived in them. Learn of Summerville's Civil War experiences. The walk covers slightly over a mile and takes about one hour.
Tours are offered by appointment only. Call 843.875.9666 for tour availability. Private and small group tours can also be arranged.
$ 10.00 for Adults; $ 5.00 for Child (12-17); and Children under 12 are free.
Summerville Dorchester Museum Activities
At Summerville Dorchester Museum, we take care to provide our visitors with an enriching experience through historical interpretation, exhibits focusing on the local area and outside to the courtyard and beyond. The museum is in the historic district, within walking distance to many sites revealing the spirit of Flowertown in the Pines.
Annual Historic Plant Sale
On March 17th, the Summerville Dorchester Museum holds it's annual historic plant sale in the Courtyard. Selections include trees, shrubs, ground covers, perennials and grasses that are best suited for Lowcountry gardens. (CASH or CHECKS only). The sale runs from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.
Prices vary depending on selection. Come early for your favorites.
Please join us for Third Thursday, which occurs on the 3rd Thursday of every month. This coincides with other businesses of Historic Downtown Summerville offering an opportunity to shop, be entertained with local talent around town and even a carriage ride provided by Olde Towne Carriage (just $5.00 per rider).
The museum has several items for sale including several local books including the Dorchester County Activity & Coloring Book for children by author, Shirley Yurcho.
We will be open until 8:00 p.m.

We have a number of books related to the history of Summerville, including signed copies of the latest Arcadia book, Images of America Summerville by Jerry Crotty and Margaret Ann Michels.
